Why am I against theocracy? Well first let's face the fact that the so called "war on terror," is really a war against Islamic theocracy. Islamic fundamentalist are on a crusade to make the whole world subject to Sharia law. From Indonesia to the Middle East, these terrorist true mission is to subjugate all secular government's and individuals into submission to Islam as interpreted by their clerics. Look no further then Iran with it's two governments. The national one, and the real one run by the Muslim clerics that tells the national government what "Islam" will and won't allow it to do. In the Philippines and Indonesia these militants fight non-Muslims, in the Middle East they fight Jews, Christians and secularist. In Minnesota, where I live, they test the waters of the separation of Church and State by refusing cab rides to people with seeing eye dogs or who are carrying alcoholic beverages. They also refuse to scan pork products if they work as clerks. Why? Because local Imams have issued fatwas to our local airports commission and other businesses in an attempt to circumvent our civil law and force non-Muslims to recognize and eventually obey their Sharia law. If left unchecked it will lead to oppression.
Muslim fundamentalists are not the only enemies of freedom. Christianity has it's own history of putting the Bible above science. The dark ages were a direct result of the Church's repression of free thought, science and individual liberties. If left to it's own devices I have no doubt today's fundamentalist Christians would be every bit as repressive as their predecessors.
The bottom line is stated in our Constitution:"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." Government should not promote religion, any religion, and on the flip side government should allow anyone to practice, or not practice whatever religion they choose. The Constitutional guarantee is this, no matter which religion the majority of Americans currently is, they have no right to impose those religious beliefs, dogmas, etc on the rest of us. Period.
This country was founded on Democracy, not theocracy. Were a lot of our founding fathers Christians? Yes, and they were the ones who recognized the need for separation of Church and state! They came from a Europe that had fought centuries of wars because of religious oppression and didn't want a repeat in the new world.
Where do I come from? I believe, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law!"

It's a shame more people don't realize this. It's perfectly ok to worship one's own god, but when they start passing laws, starting wars or otherwise trying to bully others into believing their ways, it's a great hit to our constitutional freedoms. But, those probably won't even exist in a decade, if the current liberal-mind set continues to fester.
